The Northwest Christian Homeschool Program is entering its 12th year offering a parent-involved program with a Biblical worldview for homeschooling families with students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

For elementary students in kindergarten through 6th grade, a hands-on enrichment day is offered on Thursdays from 9 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Crossover Church. Energetic, certified teachers provide an active and academic environment. Students attend classes in history, science, writing, art, music, PE, and Spanish. Homeschool parents remain the primary teacher(s).

For secondary students in 7th grade through the 12th grade, an academic class day is offered on Thursdays from 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Crossover Church. Students rotate through their classes each hour, similar to that of a traditional high school day, and are accountable to their classroom teacher. The teachers instruct on Thursdays and then send home lesson plans and assignments for the remainder of the week. Students complete their work at home and turn it in the following Thursday.

Grades are reported quarterly and recorded through a NWCS transcript, which is a valuable service for high school students who plan to attend college. Teachers integrate a Biblical worldview into their instruction and prepare students to pursue God’s plan and vision for their lives.

Families using a private school extension program to homeschool are not required to participate in Washington State public school testing, however students are required to use a state approved standardized test chosen by parents. Students may take the standardized Stanford Achievement Test offered by our homeschool staff each spring to meet state requirements and to measure their educational progress.

The Northwest Christian Homeschool Program started twelve years ago with nine students. Approximately 86 students in grades K-12 will participate in the program this year. Students in the program are part of the NWCS family and are able to participate in NWCS extracurricular athletics, theatre, and fine arts programs.
