Teaming Up with Mr. Ricks in January 2019!

United in Purpose 2019!…Happy New Year!  Our chapel  on January 10th was titled:  United in Purpose 2019!  We had a powerful time of singing, praise and worship. We then watched an inspirational spoken word video titled, Jesus Is about the amazing and redemptive power of our Savior.    Our Bible teachers, Mr. Dan Ferguson, Mrs. Angie Mossey, and  Mr. Aaron Spuler also each led a portion of scriptural teaching and  prayer times. Ephesians 4:22-24, 29 states:

You were taught with regard to your former way of life, to put off  your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.    Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.

Thank you to our Bible teachers and their challenge from God’s word to embrace Jesus’ mighty power, to put on the new self in 2019, and to let His light shine through us each day in how we treat each other.  The chapel was an awesome way to dedicate 2019 to God!

Battle for the Holy Grail! The 9th Annual Battle for the Holy Grail on January 18th was epic! The  Crusaders and Dragons (of St. George’s) started this themed rivalry basketball game event nine years ago.  Although rivals on the court, the two schools actually work very well and very closely together to provide an awesome night of fun, a celebration of school spirit, and an outreach to a community organization each year.  The student-leaders take the initiative and work with their principals, ASB advisors, and class officers to provide a lively competition.  This year, NWCS was decked out in 1980’s attire with a Back to the Future theme,  while St. George’s  was in full 1970’s retro outfits. This outstanding community event and rivalry game lived up to every bit of hype and anticipation. We are pleased to announce that while NWCS won the coveted Holy Grail prize, the real winner was Teen and Kid Closet who received a truckload of nice quality, fashionable clothing to help provide practical needs to overlooked children and teenagers in poverty and foster care around the Spokane area. A special thank you to senior Grace Ammon for coordinating the choreographed dance presentation and also to our ASB team, our ASB Advisor, Mrs. Laura West, our athletic department, our Crusader Club volunteers and our Cheerleading Team for hosting this event and to our student body and community for engaging in a fantastic school spirit effort!
