This year’s Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) State Business Leadership Conference was modified from a four day, in person event, to a month-long virtual leadership experience. Five students represented NWCS and competed well! They enthusiastically adapted to the new format and altered their presentations to video, used Zoom for team events and took advantage of online leadership training, workshops and competitions. We are very excited to share that senior, Tanner Noller, placed first in the Digital Video Production competition! He will be representing NWCS at the FBLA National Leadership Experience the end of June. His stellar video submission can be watched here:

We are thrilled for junior, Tyler Mathison, who placed fifth in Public Speaking and sixth in Help Desk! Tyler will be representing NWCS in Public Speaking at FBLA nationals. Tyler, along with a small team of students from our northeast region, participated in a Hackathon sponsored by Microsoft and Starbucks. This talented group of students placed first in the competition with their design. They were tasked to provide a solution for challenges faced by students and adults forced to work from home. They designed a modular, compact, multi-functional, “School Board” which functions like an electronic Swiss Army Knife. Their workstation includes a redesigned keyboard, drawing pad, speaker and microphone set, wireless cell phone charger, and multiple USB ports, along with an attachable and adjustable cellphone stand sitting at eye level for video conference calls.

We are proud of junior, Isabella Tibbets, and sophomores, Chloe Noller and Victoria Woo for competing well too!
