Northwest Christian Schools Theater Department’s recent production of Seussical: The Musical was more than a colorful celebration of the whimsical Whoville world. The Dr. Seuss story line of friendship and devotion was a fitting backdrop for a heartfelt evening of reunion, reconnection, and farewell. Nearly thirty former NWCS theater alums came for a “call back” at the Friday evening performance on March 21, 2025.

Alumni Night at the Theater was a special night of nostalgia and community. It was particularly meaningful as the final production of beloved NWCS Theater Director, Mr. Rick Taylor, whose countless hours dedicated to NWCS students has shaped generations of young performers. Mr. Taylor was involved for 15 years as the Theater Director. His wife, Beth, served as Musical Director for several productions during that time. Performances include: Annie, Shrek: The Musical, Disney’s Newsies, Honk!, Mary Poppins, Beauty and the Beast, Bye Bye Birdie, Seussical, Music Man, Wizard of Oz, Fiddler on the Roof, Treasure Island, Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Beauty and the Beast.

Visiting alumni were welcomed with special gift bags and fun commemorative buttons, complete with stickers that proudly displayed which past performances they had been part of during their own high school theater days.

The auditorium buzzed with joyful reconnections and shared memories as the audience watched over 50 student cast members bring the musical to life with their extraodinary talent, neverending energy, and amazing voices.

The night was a touching reminder of the sweet memories and lasting bonds that are created each year on that small chapel stage.
