This summer, Northwest Christian’s Class of 1976 returned to where so many of their memories began, gathering at the Cedar Campus to celebrate their 50th class reunion.

Classmates traveled from near and far, including Nome, Alaska; Morton, Illinois; Portland, Oregon; Idaho; and communities throughout Washington, to reconnect, reminisce, and celebrate five decades since graduation.

Returning to the Cedar/Central Campus was especially meaningful for the class. They were the first senior class to occupy the new wing south of the gym, making their walk through campus a chance to remember not only how much Northwest Christian has changed, but also the many memories held within those familiar halls.

The celebration continued the following day at a classmate’s home, where the group gathered for a relaxed afternoon of fellowship, BBQ, homemade pizza, stories, and plenty of laughter.

The reunion was lovingly planned by Becky (Curryer) and Pat Bren, whose own Northwest Christian story began long before high school they first met in first grade at the Cedar Campus! Over 10 months of planning, they worked diligently to reconnect with classmates and bring as many people together as possible. Their efforts paid off, with 17 members of the graduating class attending, along with three former classmates who attended NWC and several former staff members and teachers who joined in the celebration.

For Debbie Stalter (Wegeleben), the weekend was a reminder that the impact of Northwest Christian extends far beyond the years spent in the classroom.

“The experiences of my time with these dear classmates, good and bad, were used by God to lead me through my life and journey with the Lord…the hundreds of memorized scriptures I learned at Northwest, and are hidden in my heart, helped a lot too!”

Fifty years later, the Class of 1976 is a beautiful reminder of what makes the Northwest Christian community so special. Life has taken these classmates in different directions and across many miles, but their shared history, friendships, and foundation of faith continue to connect them.
