For Northwest Christian kindergarten students, planning a Mother’s Day Tea is a hands-on experience. A lot of work goes into this event—busy kindergarten students help to bake the scrumptious goodies, as well as prepare gifts, cards, and decorations. Then they put on their best manners so when Friday, May 9th arrives, they are ready to honor their moms (and grandmothers) at 10:00 a.m. with a Mother’s Day Tea in the multi-purpose room of the Lower Campus.
The kindergarten students and their moms and grandmas dress up for this very special event. The morning begins with the students performing songs as well as reciting poems and scripture verses. Then it’s time for tea, served in fancy teapots and decorative cups, with baked goods provided by the kindergarten students. They also have the opportunity to have a professional photo taken as a keepsake of the day with mom or grandma.
“Being a mommy is one of the most rewarding privileges God has blessed us with,” said Mrs. Bauerle, one of our beloved kindergarten teachers. “This event allows our students and teachers to have fun and to serve our moms and grandmas and show our appreciation to them. It’s also a great opportunity for the teachers to see the fruit of their labor — we have ‘poured’ so much of ourselves into these little lives and they have grown up SO much over the last nine months. The happy faces, smiles and laughter are just a few of the things we look forward to each year. There are also tears of joy and pride, and the praise and worship portion of the program is like a small slice of heaven.”
