For the third year in a row Northwest Christian Schools has won the WIAA-Washington Army National Guard Scholastic Cup 2B Championship. “This award was designed to recognize the best overall programs in the State both academically and athletically,” WIAA Executive Director Mike Colbrese said. “The achievements of these student-athletes and the leadership at their schools is celebrated through this award.”

The 2016-2017 school year marks the fourth time in its history the school has won this award and this is also their ninth top five finish.  The Crusaders also took the Cup in 2006, 2015 and 2016.  NWCS was the only Scholastic Cup Champion from the east side of the State of Washington among all six WIAA classifications.

This is the fourth Cup for the Northwest Christian Crusaders and includes seven Academic State Championships – Band, Choir, Boys’ Cross Country, Drama, Football, Girls’ Softball and Boys’ Track and Field.  Other NWC highlights for 2016-2017 included six 2nd place academic state finishes in Girls’ Basketball, Fall Cheerleading, Girls’ Cross Country, Boys’ Golf, Girls’ Golf and Boys’ Soccer. The Crusaders also had one 1st place athletic finish in Boys’ Track and Field.

The Scholastic Cup is the WIAA’s most prestigious annual school award.  The Scholastic Cup is based on a point system that includes statewide finishes in academics, athletics, and sportsmanship.  We are very proud of our athletes’ strong showing in all of these categories in 2016-2017.
