Northwest Christian Schools is excited to announce that for the first time in its history, a girls’ soccer program will be added to its offerings of competitive athletic options for high school students. The season will begin on August 22, 2016.
“NWC is excited and thankful to be able to provide an opportunity for our young ladies through the sport of soccer for personal growth and development as well as another avenue for them to express their God-given gifts and abilities in a healthy, team-oriented environment,” says Aaron Spuler, NWC Athletic Director.
Toby Rainbow has been hired as the girls’ soccer coach. Rainbow was previously the boys’ soccer coach at NWC for five years. His time as the boys’ soccer coach resulted in two second-place finishes at state. His background includes playing on one of the top 20 high school teams in the nation, winning two state titles and two state championships in club soccer. His junior year of high school he was runner up for the State Gatorade Player of the year and was defensive player of the year his last two years of high school. Additionally, Rainbow went to college on a soccer scholarship, was a four-year starter, and won a College Soccer National Championship his sophomore year.
“I am excited for the girls to have their own program and experience the same enjoyment I got from my career. I have fond memories of soccer in my past and am excited to pass it on to them. I also want to build a strong program that allows the girls opportunities to play at the college level,” says Rainbow.
