January 2019 Update

“Set an Example in Love”

As a Middle School we are continuing through our yearly theme taken from 1 Timothy 4:12 of being an example. Our focus for the month of January and February is setting an example in love. We started by thinking about God’s love for us as the basis of our love for others. We are encouraging students to think about the greatness and sacrificial nature of God’s love for them and how that should cause them to love others more than themselves. Loving others will be our theme for our Spiritual Emphasis Week coming up in February. We are currently working on creating specific opportunities for our students to love their classmates in ways that will both build a positive relational community as well as give glory to the God that enables us to love.

MAP Testing

Students took their first MAP (Measures of Academic Progress) assessment of the year in January. Although these scores are not reflected in their grades, the data that we gain from this assessment helps teachers gain an understanding on the type of learners our students are and helps inform them on the specific academic areas where the students can grow. Teachers will develop goals for each student and start implementing strategies in the classroom to help students achieve these individual goals. The next round of MAP testing will be in May. We are very excited to see the growth our students will make between now and then!

Middle School Yearbook

We are in the process of creating our yearly Middle School yearbook and would love any additional pictures you may have taken at the recent Christmas concert. If you have any pictures of middle school students at the Christmas concert and would like to share, please contact Shawna Ricks.

All for the Glory of Christ,
