All our elementary K-6 students participate in specialty classes that include library, art, music, P.E. and computers.

Physical Education:

Students participate in PE activities through developing a healthy fitness lifestyle, learn fundamental skills, and learn to be Christ-following competitors through honorable sportsmanship.

Music:

In the Orff music curriculum, students learn to read, write, perform, and appreciate music offered through our award-winning band and choir programs. In 5th grade, students may choose to participate in either band or choir. All students participate in 2 concerts each school year.

Art:

Students create work inspired by the Masters with a focus on the fundamentals of drawing and design during their weekly Creative Expressions class.

Technology:

Each teacher has a SMART Board in his or her room, as well as several computers and iPads for student use.  Students also participate in technology classes and learn computer and keyboarding skills in the computer lab. An emphasis on applying 21st century skills with godly digital citizenship with integrity is emphasized. Furthermore, NWCS elementary has a Technology Coordinator who is involved in teacher training and continually updates teachers on the latest teaching and learning applications.

Library:

We foster literacy development and teach library and research skills. Christian character development themes are interwoven into our shared story-time activities for young students. Each student has a library card and checks out books.
